Farewell...and goodbye...
I will remember you, will you remember me? Don't let your love pass you by...weep not for the memories...
A tribute...to the two wonderful people in my life...
This lil' brat ain't all innocent, needed 'proper supervision' while his parents were off to work...
That's when they came in, being a babysitter she was and as for him, doing his brother a favour...
What a handful this bouncy child was, itchy handed, always hungry and couldn't seem to sit still....
The child spent half of his childhood life there, going home only on weekends...
Eventually he came to have another pair of parents, Papa and Mama, apart from Daddy and Mommy.
She makes the best mee siam and meatball porridge...
He makes the best fish porridge and dry beehoon, see the funny connection?
She used to wake the kid up at 6 for school, bathed him, cooked maggi for him, brought him to pasar malam, and scolded him for doing the silly things kids always do...
He always spoiled the kid with extra pocket money, take him for bike rides, taught the kid to make iced sugarcane and always forced the brat to take afternoon naps...
Eventually the kid grew up to be a teenager, ready to take on the world...
She stopped becoming the kid's babysitter, likewise for her husband, who worked at the port...
At one point the boy grew to find out that she got sick, vague on details...
She soon got better, he continued to visit her back at the place where he grew up...
But then...she had to go...her sickness came back...he was 15...
He didn't get to say goodbye...
Her husband, suffered a stroke attack some time before she left...
And last sunrise, had another...he left too...the boy wasn't there...
Neither one left the boy a goodbye...
To the two that made my childhood days. To the two that loved me as their own. To the two that helped made me the person I am now. To the best uncle and aunt there is to me. To Pa, and Ma. Cheers...you'll be deeply missed.
